4th of July Celebration

Event Description
Lots to do on the 4th of July!
The starts with the July 4th FireCracker 5000 Family Fun Run put on by San Juan Island Fitness. Contact them atwww.sanjuanislandfitness.com or call 360-378-4449.
The San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce Parade starts at 10:30 am. Parade awards will be presented on the Main Stage at the Pig War at 1:00 pm
Annual Kiwanis Fourth of July Pig War Picnic on the San Juan Historical Museum Grounds on Price Street (right after the parade). Old-fashioned Fourth of July Celebration with plenty of food (BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, coleslaw, chips. Hot fudge sundaes and drinks also available). Lunch only $5. Beer garden with beer and wine. Musical entertainment by Mallet, Rythmatics and the One More Time Band. Activities and games, including bucket rides, a pie-eating contest, egg toss, three-legged race, cakewalk, face-painting, raffle and a bucket brigade. National Park Ranger Mike Vouri’s "Pig War" Story. Fourth of July Parade Awards at 1:00 p.m. The fun begins when the parade ends and goes until 4 pm!
Rock the Dock with the Timebenders! This talented group from Victoria B.C. returns thanks to the San Juan Island Rotary Club. Plan to be at the Port of Friday Harbor at 5:00 pm.
End the day with fantastic Fireworks at the Bay. With the support of the community the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce organizes this show that starts at 10:00 pm.

Every now and then I’m able to capture an image that touches my heart. Below was a brief look into the lives of our orca friends. Here are a couple of huggers, a couple of brothers, sharing a tender moment. They are families and are very loving to each other. It’s their essence!
